Gosh, Eric Holder’s America Reminds Me of Someplace…
So, politically-connected politicians and thugs on the side of the administration have investigations against them dropped while those the ruling politicians don’t like are prosecuted well after the fact. That reminds me of someplace, a city out in the Midsest somewhere, perhaps, known for being a cesspool of corruption and crime.
Here’s the bottom line: If you’re a CIA interrogator who used harsh interrogation techniques authorized by the Bush administration to obtain life-saving intelligence from terrorists, and professional line prosecutors — after laboriously scrutinizing your conduct — decided there was no criminality, Attorney General Eric will unleash a new prosecutor to investigate the case yet again, seven years after the fact.
But if you’re a high-profile Democrat pol who helped Barack Obama get elected, the Holder Justice Department’s political appointees will reach out from Washington to kill a corruption investigation begun only last year by professional line prosecutors and a grand jury in New Mexico.
I still can’t figure out why Congress felt it was okay to confirm Eric Holder. The man is about as suitable to be Attorney General as I am to be Pope. I get why the President has put together a team that reminds him of home, complete with the pandering, favor-trading, influence-peddling, and various other acts of corruption. It’s what he grew up with as a politician, it got him to where he is right now, and it’s all he knows. But Congress should know better. Those Senators who voted on Holder had a responsibility to make sure we were getting someone who would treat the law seriously and with respect. They blew it.
