Oh, It’s Just a Few Trees, Right Greenpeace?
Something tells me that when the environmental activists backed Barack Obama to the hilt, they probably weren’t expecting him to open up a huge swatch of untamed wilderness to evil corporate loggers.
They sure as heck didn’t expect him to take the same side of the issue as the She-Devil Sarah Palin and her Dark Lord Bush.
Suckers.
Donald Douglas, who has links to the original story here, thinks it’s part of a cynical ploy to undercut Palin by the time 2012 rolls around. I’m not entire sure he’s right (though it wouldn’t be the first time he’s chosen political expediency over a formerly-treasured activist group), but he certainly could be. The President might have made little more than a pro forma decision, rubber stamping what his predecessor did because it was the best decision.
We’ve seen that from him often enough in the past four months.

It cracks me up to see Obama carrying on Bush policies, or trying to pretend he's got some "New, better, nicer" way of doing it, and it ends up being a near-carbon copy, with the Obama frills and doilies.
