Is it too much to ask that the President’s Energy Czar, whatever the hell that is, actually read the entire bill she is lobbying so hard to get through Congress?
Well, if you ask her, and Steve Doocy did, it’s horribly unfair to even ask the question.
Doocy asked her five times and she managed to dodge every question like she was Neo on an office building rooftop.
I guess, given her workload, we really shouldn’t bother her with details. After all, she and her boss, the President, have a more important mission than reading the stuff they’re trying to foist on us. We need better lights!
WASHINGTON (AP) — Aiming to keep the focus on climate change legislation, President Barack Obama put a plug in for administration efforts to make lamps and lighting equipment use less energy.
“I know light bulbs may not seem sexy, but this simple action holds enormous promise because 7 percent of all the energy consumed in America is used to light our homes and businesses,” the president said, standing alongside Energy Secretary Steven Chu at the White House.
And by “better” the administration means “whatever crappy expensive new lighting General Electric happens to be making that might possibly eke out an infinitesimal energy savings, damn the cost to you or your employer”.
So, just when you’ve finally kind of gotten used to living with the cruddy, flickering, humming, pallid complexion-inducing fluorescent lighting in your office and you didn’t think it could possibly get any worse, here comes the government. Perhaps we’ll go to using environmentally-safe soy candles to light our offices.
And, hey, why are we using all those photocopiers and computers? I bet they suck down a lot more power than a few fluorescent lights. The administration could find a much more energy-efficient way of printing book and reproducing important documents, right?
