Democrats Don’t Need to Read the Bill, They Know What They’re Getting

Back in February, the Democrats rammed the Stimulus Bill through Congress, moving so quickly that they voted on the bill before anyone could even read the final version.

Today, they’re at it again. Like last time, this bill is their cap and trade program which we know will kill jobs and cost you a lot more money and will have no discernible affect on the environment.

In one week, the page count for this monstrosity has gone froun about 950 to over 1,200 and no one is exactly capable of saying why because no one person knows exactly what’s in the bill.

Nevertheless, Democrats want to vote on it today, even though they haven’t read it and even though they have no real idea what, exactly, the bill does.

Well, that’s not exactly true. The Congressional left knows the bill will do three things, which is really all they care to know. First, it’ll let them say they “did something” about the imaginary threat of manmade global warming. Second, it’ll bank them some fat contributions from their environmental buddies who will use this bill as a weapon against nearly every source of energy currently powering our economy, especially coal and nuclear. Third, it will give them unmatched control over the entire energy sector of the country, allowing them to fulfill President Obama’s desire to bankrupt the coal industry. In short, the bill is about power and control. The Dems want it and this bill will give it to them like they’ve never had it before. Incidentally, the power they’ll take is power that currently belongs to you, as a consumer and a voter.

What the bill won’t do is help our environment, make your life more efficient, or usher us into a new age of clean energy. But you didn’t think those were really the Democrats’ goals, did you?

UPDATE: How bad could it be? Bad enough to for IBD to say “Smoot-Hawley will feel like a speed bump”. You might remember Smoot-Hawley from just before our last Depression which, I’m told, was Great.

UPDATE 2: Here’s how much of a rish the Dems are in to pass a bill no one’s read. They added more than 300 pages to the bill early this morning.

Call your Representative this morning and tell them to stop.
