Stacy has some interesting thoughts on IG-Gate.

At this point, IG-Gate raises two basic questions:

  1. Does all this suspicious smoke indicate a genuinely scandalous fire? That is to say, is there genuine crime or ethical misconduct involved, or are the inspectors generals just victims of political hardball which, while rudely thuggish in typical Chicago fashion, is not actually criminal?
  2. If there is a real scandal, will the Obama-worshipping press ignore it?

After I filed my Friday report at Pajamas Media, I noticed a lot of comments along the lines of, “Oh, Obama will get away with this because the MSM is in the tank.” This is a presumption — indeed, perhaps, two or three presumptions — too far.

His answers to the presumptions are what I found interesting. I think that this story has legs because, as I wrote a few days ago, there could very well be a Pulitzer in it for whoever breaks it wide open. I don’t imagine that the pervasive Obama-worship we’ve seen in the MSM thus far is strong enough to mute every journalists’ ambition.

It will take a certain about of determination, a big helping meanness, if you prefer. You can bet that the administration won’t take kindly to some lowly reporter who has broken free from the mob of groupies. Whoever decided to make a run on this story is going to have to borrow some inspiration from someone Stacy quotes quite often, the Outlaw Josey Wales.

Now remember, things look bad and it looks like you’re not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. ‘Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That’s just the way it is.

So who’s going to be that “mad-dog journalist”?
