Welcome to September 10th, America. Brace Yourself.
I really, really hope this isn’t happening.
…[T]he Obama Justice Department has quietly ordered FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high value detainees captured and held at U.S. detention facilities in Afghanistan, according a senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee. “The administration has decided to change the focus to law enforcement. Here’s the problem. You have foreign fighters who are targeting US troops today – foreign fighters who go to another country to kill Americans. We capture them…and they’re reading them their rights – Mirandizing these foreign fighters,” says Representative Mike Rogers, who recently met with military, intelligence and law enforcement officials on a fact-finding trip to Afghanistan.
I cannot even begin to say what a great victory this policy is for the Jihadists. Now, when a “high value detainee”, otherwise known as “a terrorist who knows a lot of stuff about other terrorists”, he knows that we will not compel him in any way to give up anything at all. There will be no interrogation, harsh or otherwise. He will not have to spend the night wondering what we’re going to do to him. He will be kept as safe as houses.
This, by the way, is yet another complete reversal for the President. When he was campaigning, this was his opinion on detainees:
“Now, do these folks [terrorist detainees] deserve Miranda rights? Do they deserve to be treated like a shoplifter down the block? Of course not.”
What a difference an election victory makes, huh?
Dick Cheney was exactly right. The President has gone back to the bad old days when we treated people who have sworn to kill and/or subjugate us like common criminals. That strategy cost us the lives of thousands of innocent Americans — our friends and loved ones.
How much will it cost us this time around?

UPDATE: It’s true.
Congratulations, America. You are now demonstrably less safe than you were six months ago. How can I say that? Well, let’s do the math.
Treating Islamist attacks like crimes = World Trade Center, 1993; Riyadh Car Bombing, 1995; Khobar Towers, 1996; Luxor Massacre, 1997; East Africa Embassy Bombings, 1998; U.S.S. Cole, 2000; September 11, 2001; Daniel Pearl Beheading, 2002;
Treating Islamist attacks matters of national security = Nineteen foiled plots; zero dead American innocents.
You can’t argue with success. You can only ignore it.

Sure you can, once you've departed reason.
Your list of 19 foiled terrorism plots undercuts your assertion that law enforcement and Miranda rights have played no role in the War on Terror since most of the plots were foiled/solved/handled as criminal matters by the FBI and DOJ [Faris, Padilla, Reid, etc.]. If we are going to eventually try these terrorists in the US Courts, then having the FBI Agents read them their Miranda rights prior to their interviews is prudent and logical. Terrorists, criminals and anybody else are either going to talk or not talk regardless of the Miranda warning – that decision is always up to the individual.
