Soldiers Shot Outside Recruiting Center By Soldier-Hating Muslim but the Reaction is Different

| June 1, 2009 | Comments (9)

NTCNews is carrying the story tonight that two soldiers were shot outside a recruiting office in Little Rock Arkansas. One of the soldiers was killed and the other was wounded. The suspect was a fairly recent convert to Islam who, according to the police chief, targeted the military because he had a disagreement over military operations” He also said they “believe that primarily it is a religious disagreement, and that he has a dislike for military personnel and military actions.”

In other words, the murderer was anti-war and killed the soldiers simply because they were soldiers. I’ll note that the victims were recently out of boot camp and hadn’t been to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Thus far, the blogospheric reaction to the shooting has come almost exclusively from the right. Given the hyperventilating the left has done the past two days over the alleged “hate speech” of the right, I would have expected them to be all over this story because of given the level of invective and outright calls for violence against our soldiers.

Heh, right. That’s going to happen.

I won’t wait for the progressive left to condemn groups like Code Pink and International ANSWER nor human blobs of ignorance like Michael Moore, Dick Durbin, or Ted Kennedy. They would have to summon something akin to introspection and self-respect and, folks, waiting for that is like waiting for Santa Claus.

Michelle Malkin is waiting for a comment from the President. He does seem to be a little late in getting one out. Maybe he’s busier today than he was yesterday.

The reaction sure was different. Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad was charged with one count of capital murder and fifteen counts of terrorism. Those charges are perfectly fair, as Muhammad is a murderer and a terrorist. But Scott Roeder is also a terrorist, but he got charged with one count of first degree murder, two counts of assault, and ZERO terrorism charges. What's up with that? Well, Scott is Christian and Christian terrorists do not get charged with terrorism. Ever.

As for the progressive response, well, Muhammad's crimes are not politically controversial. Everyone agrees that radical Muslims pose a threat. But there is a clear divide in this country on whether radical Christians pose a threat. So there is no discussion of Muhammad's crimes because everyone is on the same side. Everybody believes it was clearly wrong and clearly terrorism. That is not the case with Roeder's crimes.

Perhaps people who know a lot more about the law then you decided that what Roeder did wasn't terrorism while what the police chief revealed about Muhammad's statements provided a clear guide to charge him.

As for your anti-Christians delusion, well, I figured you'd be around at some point.

Or perhaps a District Attorney who must be elected by a strongly pro-life electorate knew he didn't want to anger his voters. I know enough about the law to know that DA's often choose their cases for political, not legal, reasons. Consider the case against Larry Flynt, which was so legally insane it got shot down by the Supremes on a very rare 9-0 vote. That case was brought solely for political reasons and had absolutely no merit whatsoever. As for my "anti-Christian delusion," it's hardly delusional when they really are shooting at us. And they really are planting bombs and making death threats. And they really do have camps for children to train them to violently fight for Christianity. And people like Randall Terry really do want to throw all non-Christians in jail. He'll only say it in private, but I've heard him say it directly to me. Take a trip to The South, you'll see what I'm talking about. The kind of peaceful Christianity you see in Maryland is nothing like what it is elsewhere.

"He’ll only say it in private, but I’ve heard him say it directly to me."

Let's make this clear: I've had ten hours of one-on-one private talks with Randall Terry. And an additional five hours of three-way conversations with him, me, and an Eastern Orthodox priest. They took place in Pergamon and Ephesus in Turkey, and on bus rides to and from. I held his camera to film some of his rants. The best one was when he stood where Paul stood in the amphitheater of Ephesus. If you get to see the footage, you'll see that what he was saying made me very nervous. Sorry about that camera shake, but it scared the hell out of me, and I don't scare easily.

As an aside, while I write, I'm listening to Rachael Maddow discussing the Arkansas case right now. And she's questioning how someone like that might get the guns he did. But of course he could. Anyone with an IQ over 50 can easily buy any gun they want in America, terrorists included. You don't need any identification for a private transfer. How do think I got my AK-47? And mine is sweet. Romanian made, and technically semi-auto. But push a little pin out (there's a tool in the stock, along with a cleaning kit), and it's fully auto. I can pop it out in twenty seconds. And I've got an Arbor press to put another one right back in. I'm okay with the free transfer of military grade weapons because I like to shoot them. But maybe we shouldn't give these weapons to people who are even less mentally stable than I am. And I'm bipolar. Think about that.

So tell me Jimmie, how do you feel about about forced abortion? And before you answer, think about this. The largest mass forced abortion program in history was our use of Agent Orange Vietnam. Want to defend that? I'll defend third term abortions for dead fetuses and pregnancies that will kill the mother. Oh, and you should defend killing the mother mother to save an already dead fetus. These are the kind of abortions Dr. Tiller was doing. He saved more lives than he killed. But that's the Pro-Life way. Life begins at conception and ends at birth. I am morally opposed to abortion when it's just a whim, but when it's medically necessary, I'll support the mother. Will you?

  5. fostert says:

"Life begins at conception and ends at birth"

That's the basic concept here. Your people would have killed my friend if they had a chance. She was a new mother, seven months pregnant with twins. The father was her husband of three years and they really wanted those babies. So why did she get the Dilation and Extraction procedure (partial birth abortion)? Well, her twins umbilical cords had twisted and killed the babies. She was faced with two choices: not get the D&X and die, or get the D&X and live. Either way, the fetuses in question were already dead. The procedure she got was then not a big deal, but can now only be performed by two doctors in this country. Prior to this week, there were three doctors who could do it. So tell me why you want my happily married friend with two beautiful children should be dead now. And tell me why her children should never have been born. Pro-Life? My ass. You are just against abortion, and you don't know medicine. And you don't give a damn about anyone living.

Not to detract from what you've said in any way, fostert, but aren't your comments about abortion a bit off topic? I really didn't expect to find an abortion debate in comments to a "soldier shot outside recruiting office" blog entry.

Fostert is capable of taking any topic, from punk rock to bees wax, and turn it into an anti-Christian screed against pro-life "crusaders" who are all back-woods, unintelligent, racist, bigoted hypocrites who are always committing some heinous, unthinkable act against him, a family member or friend of his. He is also under the impression that adding a bazillion paragraphs to each blog post on the subject adds credence to his argument.
