Michelle Obama’s Idea of 120 Percent is About 120 Percent Off
Methinks the first lady has an extremely high opinion of herself.
First Lady Michelle Obama says she knows the challenges of being a working mother, and the feeling that one is never doing enough.
“I call myself a 120-percenter. If I’m not doing any job at 120 percent, I think I’m failing. So if you’re trying to do that at home and at work, you find it very difficult and stressful and frustrating,” she told the annual meeting of the Corporate Voices for Working Families at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington.

“But things are very different today. One income really doesn’t always cut it anymore,” Mrs. Obama said. “Twenty-two million working women don’t have a single paid sick day. That means they lose money any time they have to stay home to take care of their kids. You know, imagine making that choice. And we do it all the time. And even when I had sick leave, I found myself, you know, hoping that the kids would stay well, just I couldn’t afford to take the day off because there was a meeting, or something was going on.”
Really? She couldn’t take even one sick day as the wife of a United States Senator? If that’s true, then how did she manage to take the entire Presidential campaign off from her job?
Worse, she pulled down her full salary, about $63,000, for doing absolutely nothing. She didn’t even have the courtesy to give the money back when she quit after her husband was elected. It’s not like they couldn’t have afforded it considering they made well over a million dollars and won’t have to pay living expenses for the next four years.
I imagine that $63,000 could have covered a few sick days for hospital employees. Instead, it went into the pockets of a rich woman playing at being working class.

What is with this idea that not having a paid sick day or actually having to take care of your children makes you a victim?? I'm sick of listening to this woman complain…not just about how hard her life is, which is ridiculous on its face. But stop complaining about how bad the rest of us have it & encouraging people to feel sorry for themselves, because oh my, I am sick & have to take unpaid sick time. Or I am sick but if I take a paid sick day, I will have to miss a meeting. Sheesh….such is life. We ALL have to deal with these issues. Doesn't mean you are being treated unfairly or the govt. should step in and make it so that you won't miss a meeting when you are sick or you will be able to be paid always whenever you need time off.
Its all part of the "Obama's as a normal, working family" narrative.

I find it hard to believe that Michelle is really that hard of a worker, unless you're willing to count patient dumping schemes at the hospital she worked at.
Your research didn't go far enough; $63K was not her full salary. The previous year, she was paid something over $200K for that job. She took a leave of absence in May, then officially quit in January, so the money she received is not out of line with being paid for working the first part of the year.
It could be I'm being too harsh here. It seems to be that the Obama family haven't quite earned the benefit of the doubt from me since they've not exactly been honest and forthcoming about themselves to this point.
The articles I read said she'd been on a leave of absence "during the Presidential campaign" and since May. Obama's campaign started in early February and I have a hard time believing that she dutifully went to work every day for three months before finally taking a leave of absence. It doesn't take that long to tie up loose ends in any job and especially not one that didn't exist before nor after Michelle Obama had it.
I'm choosing the assumption that she didn't actually for a good chunk of the year before her leave of absence.

Umm, the First Lady should be a position we don't care about. I Think Roosevelt's wife should have made that clear. And if Lady Bird didn't drive that home, you don't get the message. And if you needed a contempory First Lady, Carter's wife will provide you with a real example. And then there's Hillary, and we don't want to go there. After all we had been through with crazy wives, Laura Bush was a breath of fresh air. She only killed someone in her past. But as a smoker, I liked the fact that she was on the roof smoking butts. She had class and a dark side too. I respect that. But Michelle is just too perfect. I expect some kind of First Lady scandal, and she just won't give it to me. And that 63K? Umm, Ann Coulter can smile and get that kind of money. And Ann's smile isn't even remotely pretty, but her looks are the only thing she's got. And I guess if you've done enough meth, she looks good. But Michelle has real style. She's smart, sexy, and can raise children. There's three things that Ann Coulter can't do. But it we be absurd to judge any woman on Ann Coulter's level. We should assume that your average woman can get her drunk ass out of the ditch. And look, any drunk person like Ann can get a Cornell degree like me, but you have to be real to get a Harvard Law degree. But more important than that, you really have to be real to raise some good kids like that. Strangely enough, only Hillary has raised a decent child. Barbara Bush surely didn't. But Michelle is well on her way.
If you were volunteering at a food for the poor place would you flaunt $500 sneakers? When Bush wanted to give us a $600 stimulus check she said "What are you going to do with $600. Buy a pair of earrings? Obama just killed a voucher plan for children of D.Cs schools to be allowed to go to a private school.But his kids go to one. Just remember when he told his elitist friends at a private dinner party in San Francisco that we were a bitter people who clung to our guns and religion he wasn't just talking about conservatives. He was talking about people not as wealthy as he and his elitist friends. Including you unless you are a millionaire at least.
Millions of Americans out of work. They are still passing out worker Visas to other countries. Obama just allotted 20 million to bring Hamas people to the U.S and support them with all the benefits that illegals are getting. You know Hamas..the ones that teach their children to kill Americans.
They tell us he didn't bow to the Arab. That the Arab was shorter than him so it looked like he was bowing when he was shaking hands. The Queen is shorter than him.
He said himself that he owes the unions. So he wants them to have no secret ballot so workers can be strongarmed into voting in a union.
He owes the teachers union. So no vouchers. He owes a lot of people, unfortunately he doesn't consider you and I any of those people
I wouldn't know how much she made the year before, but $63,000 is a ton of money to make while not working.
I'm not an Obama expert, but I was under the impression Michelle didn't pay for her education, the taxpayers did.
