President Obama: Happy Important Holiday, You Mexicans!

obama-epicfailHappy Fifth of Fourth Day!

Or as our neighbors to the south say, “¿Que?”

Anyway, in a well-intentioned attempt at Spanish and a joke about being a day early, Obama said:

“Bienvenidos. Welcome to Cinco de Cuatro — (laughter) — Cinco de Mayo at the White House. We are a day early, but we always like to get a head start here at the Obama White House.”

Apparently unbeknownst to the president he wasn’t saying “Happy May 4th.” He was saying, “Happy fifth of fourth.”

He could have said, “Feliz cuatro de mayo.” But he didn’t. So that explains the laughter.

Well done, President “You need to make sure your child can speak Spanish”. Maybe you should spend less time flexing for the White House Press Corps on Air Force One and settle in with a set of these. The whole set is less than $500 on Amazon, with free shipping. But if you do get them, buy them through my blog link, huh? I could use the few bucks from the sale.

Michelle Malkin, who has video, asks a good question.

How many times over the last year have we said “If George Bush said what Barack Obama said…”

Well, George Bush wouldn’t have messed that up. He could actually speak Spanish. He’s not fluent in it, but he speaks it well enough to handle basic greetings and, you know, numbers. It was a point of pride for him that he learned some of it as an adult.

If only our current President would show the ability to learn something as an adult…

  1. $500 for some steenkin' books & CD's? What are you thinkin', man!?!?!? How would Michelle be able to buy more over-priced (and tacky) sneakers? Dude! Where are your priorities?
