Best Western Movie Themes? Can’t Forget Silverado!

| April 29, 2009 | Comments (1)

I think this list by John Nolte of the greatest Western movie themes is darned good, though I’d make one change. I’d remove “For A Few Dollars More” and replace it with the Silverado theme, composed by Bruce Broughton. One Morricone in a Top Five list is fine with me, if it means that we can replace it with the theme to finest western (aside from Tombstone, which soundtrack was also a Broughton composition) made since the 60s.

Yeah, I know that Nolte has forgotten more about movies than I’ll ever know, but I definitely have to make room for Silverado.

What do you think?

Hey – this reminds me of the music Bill Bennett used to use to start his radio show. I loved that song but could never figure out what it was. (Not a western movie fan.) Do you know what that song was by chance? I think they said once it was something like Hidalgo??
