How would you like to own a document that the shining star of a major news network called “a primary document of American history” that would one day become a history textbook?

Well, today is your lucky day! In fact, if you have a dollar, you can own three copies of Scott McClellan’s book What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception for the low, low price of 28 cents.

That’s right, the book hailed by Bush critics and MSM figures as a “bombshell” reminiscent of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, that “[set] the record straight”, was written by a “truth-teller”, and passed the publisher’s “test of independence, integrity, and candor” can be all yours for about a twentieth what you’d pay for a coffee at Starbucks.

It’s almost like they were just hyping the book because it gave them all yet another reason to take cheap shots at President Bush or something. Who would have thought?

Oh, and lest you think I was kidding about the fulsome praise The Smartest Journalist in the Universe heaped upon McClellan’s book, here’s the quote from his show.

OLBERMANN: Scott McClellan, I don’t want to get too fulsome on you
but I don’t think you’re going to be dining out on the book for the rest
of life. I think this a primary document of American history and I’m
very impressed with it. At some point people will be teaching history
based on it.

No, I don’t guess he will be dining out on the sales of his book, even if he ordered off of McDonald’s Value Menu. He’s have to sell a lot of book at 28 cents to earn himself a McChicken sandwich.

As for those history lessons, well, let’s just say that McClellan would be a great illustration of why selling your integrity for a little fawning adoration from people with very short attention spans leaves you mostly forgotten
