Reid: Soon, We’ll Have Some Honest Moderates on the Bench
This article makes a whole lot more sense if you realize that Harry Reid’s brain is calibrated one step to the left of the real world.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Friday that John Roberts misled the Senate during his confirmation hearings by pretending to be a moderate — and that the United States is now “stuck” with him as chief justice.
“Roberts didn’t tell us the truth. At least Alito told us who he was,” Reid said, referring to Samuel Alito, the second Supreme Court justice nominated by President George W. Bush. “But we’re stuck with those two young men, and we’ll try to change by having some moderates in the federal courts system as time goes on — I think that will happen.”
If you replace “moderates” with “progressives” and assume that Reid thinks that the lying scum Roberts is the hideous amalgam of an anarchist, a militia member, and John Birch, then he makes perfect sense.
Of course, you also have to assume that a well-respected judge whose personal and professional integrity is impeccable and who has earned a reputation for honesty and seriousness from both left and right also lied to Senators under direct questioning for a few days.
It’s just a lot easier to accept that Harry Reid is a partisan hack.

when dirty harry tells you that roberts didn't tell us the truth about who he is, why doesn't someone ask him if david souter told the truth when he was being confirmed.
not supposed to ask those sorts of impertinent questions, i guess.
[...] The funny thing about Senator Reid wanting moderates, is that they won’t actually be moderate. Moderate is defined differently with Reid and company when you realize that his reality is stage left of the rest of the world. [...]
