Shocker: JournoList Populated By Scrawny Whiners

I’m thinking, after reading this, that the whole JounoList story is a big ball of nothing. It’s certainly still troublesome that supposedly objective journalists spend much of their time inside a progressive echo-chamber. It’s a lot less troublesome to find that instead of the advertised Inner Sanctum of Intelligent Fact and Discourse what’s really going on in there is the sort of cattiness that was heretofore seen among the cast of The Real World, San Francisco.

Perhaps Ezra Klein will want to revise his silly claim that by excluding anyone but leftists, discussions won’t “collapse into flame war. The emphasis is on empiricism, not ideology”. Yeah. Sure. Empiricism.

Jeff Goldstein gets off the line of the night about the leaked excerpt.

Think “Woodward and Bernstein bring down Nixon,” only replace “Woodward and Bernstein bring down Nixon” with “A bunch of guys who were beaten up daily in junior high show why they almost certainly had it coming.”

The worst thing is that you just know their journals were just stuffed with bad, depressing poetry and unsent mash notes to Mallory from Family Ties commiserating with her for having to live in the same house as that disgusting Alex.

UPDATE: Linked by Stacy McCain who notes that while the JournoListers were busy having their little encounter group, a real journalist was scooping all of them.
