Diplomacy With A Blunt Object
US President Barack Obama has indirectly praised former French president Jacques Chirac’s fierce opposition to the US-led invasion of Iraq, the online edition of the daily Le Figaro reported on Thursday.
In a letter described by Chirac as ‘very nice,’ Obama wrote, ‘I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world.’
The use of the word ‘peace’ was taken to be an indirect reference to Chirac’s stance against the US intervention in Iraq, which Obama had also opposed as senator.
The only problem with his sentiment is that Jacques Chirac isn’t in a position to “build a safer world”. The guy who is the President of France right now, on the other hand, is. Alas for the world, President Obama doesn’t seem to be particularly interested in meeting with President Sarkozy.
Who knew that our President would do more damage to the relationships with our allies in two months than George Bush did in eight years?

It's almost as though he's actually trying to insult out allies. It's hard to imagine that anyone could actually be so inept.

Obama sees our "allies" as Iran's Mad Mullahs, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, and Cuba's Castro brothers.
You know, I acteually think Obama's team doesn't know Chric is no longer Pres — it's the only thing that makes any sense of this sheer incompetent action.
