Another Sunday Show, Another Media Fantasy
It didn’t take long for the administration’s pet journalist, George Stephanopoulos to start twisting Rush Limbaugh’s speech last night at CPAC into something he could get a leading Republican to criticize.
During our exclusive interview on “This Week,” Republican Whip Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., rejected comments made by Rush Limbaugh at the CPAC conference.
Defending his attacks against President Barack Obama’s economic plans, Limbaugh said Saturday to the conservative conference, “What is so strange about being honest and saying I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundations?”
Cantor today rejected Limbaugh’s rhetoric.
“So the Rush Limbaugh approach of hoping the president fails is not the Eric Cantor, House Republican approach?” I asked.
“Absolutely not,” Cantor said. “And I don’t — I don’t think anyone wants anything to fail right now. We have such challenges. What we need to do is we need to put forth solutions to the problems that real families are facing today.”
Did you notice the difference between what Limbaugh said and the way that Snuffleupagus represented it? Erick Erickson did and I agree with him that it’s “an absolute lie”. Stephanopoulos clearly changed waht Rush said to make it sound like he’s flatly opposed to President Obama no matter what.
What rolls the deception from a simple journalistic gaffe into outright dishonesty is that Rush has been on the air for at least a month saying exactly what he said at CPAC. There’s no excuse for his distortion. He’s trying to create a controversy where there is none.
That’s not journalism. That’s not even bias. That’s a lot worse.
Hot Air has the whole speech, in ten easy to watch parts. See for yourself.

Georgie-boy is nothing but a TOOL.
Nice to meet you at CPAC!
The other possibility is that there are a number of those who declare themselves to be Republicans simply are not. We have been well infiltrated – they even represent us _as_ Republicans in the halls of Congress.
And Cantor is a freaking wimp. He knew damn good and well what Rush meant. Cantor just went down several notches in my book. Until these idiots start standing up to these so called "journalists" they get nothing but my scorn. Cantor should have stood up for Rush. Period.
I wonder if Cantor really knew. I'm willing to believe that all he's really heard is what has been reported, which has been almost completely wrong.
