President Obama Works a Miracle, Finds Pork that the Islamists Will Love

I suppose of the Obama administration can shovel billions of dollars to ACORN, Planned Parenthood, and dozens of other pet activist groups, it shouldn’t surprise us all that much that he’s also sending almost a billion dollars to the Islamist thugs of Hamas.

Of course, the official MSM cover story is that the money isn’t going to Hamas but to NGOs.

The Obama administration intends to provide some $900 million to help rebuild Gaza after the Israeli incursion that ended last month, administration officials said Monday.

In an early sign of how the administration plans to deal with Hamas, the militant Islamist group that controls Gaza, an official said that the aid would not go to Hamas but that it would be funneled through nongovernmental organizations.

As Andy McCarthy points out, that argument is industrial-grade hogwash.

The Times is careful not to mention the name of “the United Nations agency” in question. It is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). The paper’s diffidence should come as no surprise.

Even Obama’s pal [Rasheed] Khalidi has acknowledged that UNRWA has on its payroll official “members of different political groups such as… Hamas and Islamic Jihad, without reference to their belonging to a specific group” (emphasis added). UNRWA fails to screen its 23,000 employees (99 percent of whom are Palestinians) for terrorist ties. As my friend Claudia Rosett recently wrote in Forbes, the agency’s Israel-bashing commissioner, Karen Koning Abuzayd, absurdly told Congress it was too difficult for UNRWA to run checks against terrorist watch lists because “Arab last names sound so familiar.” UNRWA further permits its employees to affiliate openly with Hamas and other terrorist organizations. In addition, the agency claims it cannot screen recipients of its largesse for terror ties because — besides Arab names being so very difficult for Arabs to distinguish — attempting such screening would endanger staff members. Translation: Of course we give the money to Hamas.

And that’s not the half of it.

Indeed it is not. Read all of McCarthy’s post but make sure your blood pressure medicine is close by. It’s no big secret that UNRWA is shot-through with members of Hamas and other Islamist groups. I can’t fathom the colossal amount of naiveté required to believe that our hard-earned money won’t end up in the hands of the Islamists. Perhaps the belief here is that Hamas will take our money and suddenly decide to drop that whole pesky “Death to the Jews and Infidels” business. After all, the President comes from a political background where everyone has a price and no one has any deeply-held values except “I gotta get mine”.

I hope that he realizes before something really bad happens that not everyone is like his corrupt Chicago political pals or his MSM lapdogs. Some folks have beliefs that they will not sell, even for a billion taxpayer dollars.

But we can at least congratulate the President for finding some pork that the head-chopping, woman-enslaving, gay-killing Islamists will love.
