A Post In Which I Respond Humbly to Senator Charles Schumer
I got your “party of the people” right here.
Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) accused Senate Republicans Monday of dragging their feet on the $800 billion stimulus package.
“Why quibble over $200 million?” he asked during an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
Gosh, Senator, why in the world might a principled and responsible representative niggle with you over such a paltry sum. Why, that’s not even half-enough money to get a Democrat elected President these days. Heck, with you guys in Congress, a million bucks is the new penny. Two-hunded million dollars in a one trillion dollar bribery scheme could get lost in a rounding error! Besides, you’re a big, powerful member of the US Senate. Who could blame you for wanting to treat the taxpayers like your vassals and their money like your own personal slush fund?
However, I humbly submit that there are three compelling reasons why you should think very deeply before you spend even a penny of our tax dollars. I realize that I don’t have the fancy degrees, the natty suit coat, nor those cool glasses that you push down to the edge of your nose so you can more easily peer through them at we poor underlings. Nevertheless, I hope to explain them clearly enough.
First, it’s not your money.
Second, it’s not your money, you officious schmuck.
Third, and please lean in really closely so you don’t miss a single word, IT’S NOT YOUR FREAKING MONEY!
