Barney Frank Lets His Totalitarian Flag Fly
What is the end goal for Democrats as they try to foist their Stimulus Bill on an American populace who doesn’t want it?
Control.
Don’t believe me? Believe Barney Frank, one of the guys who got us into this mess in the first place.
Congress will consider legislation to extend some of the curbs on executive pay that now apply only to those banks receiving federal assistance, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank said.
“There’s deeply rooted anger on the part of the average American,” the Massachusetts Democrat said at a Washington news conference today.
He said the compensation restrictions would apply to all financial institutions and might be extended to include all U.S. companies.
The provision will be part of a broader package that would likely give the Federal Reserve the authority to monitor systemic risk in the economy and to shut down financial institutions that face too much exposure, Mr. Frank said.
[Emphasis Mine]
Let us not forget that the Treasury Department strongarmed healthy banks into taking TARP money when they did not need it to erase the “stigma” of taking the cash. Now that they have, the Democrats are using it as a pretense to take your right to make a contractual agreement with another private citizen.
Don’t think it’s a big deal? It is. The right to make our own private business contracts is the most important economic right we have. It is what has built trillions upon trillions of dollars of wealth all over the world. It is what has lifted more people out of poverty than anything else the world has ever seen. It is the foundation of the American Dream.
Barney Frank wants to take it away and he’s willing to lie to do it. There’s no “deep-seated anger” out there against banks. There is such anger directed at Barney Frank and his totalitarian-leaning buddies in Congress who pushed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to buy up garbage mortgages to the tune of half their portfolios.
It’s about time we turned these guys out. When a member of the United States Congress says, without apology, that the government should decide what your salary should be, things have gotten way out of hand. We need to get them back in hand.
(Thanks to doubleplusundead, who notes Obama’s feelings on the subject as well)
