Get Ready for Some Census Monkey Business
Are you ready for some monkey business when the next census rolls around? Historically, Congressional districts are drawn based on the most recent US Census. The Director of the Census Bureau normally answers to the Secretary of Commerce.
Not anymore. Since the Secretary of Commerce will be a Republican who has promised to depoliticize the Census and run a clean game, Democratic interest groups, who want to play funny games with voting districts have called in some markers and gotten the President to tilt the playing field back in their direction. The director of the Census will now answer directly to the President.
Not surprisingly, the decision rests entirely on the matter of millions of illegal immigrants. They are not eligible to vote, but that’s not stopped them from turning out for Democrats before.
Just how transparent do you think the apportionment process will be in an Obama White House? I’d say about as transparent as his vetting of his cabinet picks.

In the Republican mind, a "clean game" is disenfranchising people with brown skin. We will obviously have another battle over strict counting vs. statistical sampling. Nobody in science or mathematics would ever use strict counting because of the obvious sampling bias. That kind of counting simply cannot be done properly. That's why we use sampling methods. Those methods should be applied to the Census because they are more accurate. But Republicans don't want accuracy, do they? They want to disenfranchise people with brown skin. The straight count does that. People with brown skin tend to be abused by government authorities. So they don't open the door when the Feds come by. And they don't get counted. I made an effort in the last census to not be counted. And I may have succeeded. Too bad the IRS doesn't think I don't exist. The Census might miss me, but the IRS surely won't.
I have seen other articles about how CAIR & other Muslim interest groups try to tamper with the census results as well; to give themselves a bigger footprint. And it is usually lefty types that sign up for these jobs. I don't even think for a minute that you can trust how many of a given group are really represented.
"And I may have succeeded."
The only thing that would have caught me up would be criminal records. But I' not really sure the Census Bureau catches those. Are they really looking into Sheriffs Department records? I doubt it. But, hey, they'll get me next time. Renewing a passport should trigger a census event, shouldn't it?
"In the Republican mind, a “clean game” is disenfranchising people with brown skin. "
That is such crap & you know it….wake up from the fantasy land you lefties live in where you are all saints (that don't pay their taxes) and Republicans are all evil & like it when little brown children go to bed hungry. Never mind how patronizing & belittling that is to non-white races, it is just a lie.
"But Republicans don’t want accuracy, do they? They want to disenfranchise people with brown skin. "
A bold statement from the Party of ACORN to be sure….
"People with brown skin tend to be abused by government authorities. So they don’t open the door when the Feds come by. And they don’t get counted."
By papering their neighborhoods with food stamps? By birthing their babies for free? By ignoring their immigration status on the off chance they may tell us who is doing the drive-by shootings in their area? By ignoring the fraud they are involved in with social security & welfare?
They wouldn't have to open the door when the Feds come by if they'd fill out they darn forms when they arrive in the mail in 85 different languages. Seeing how there are no benefits directly attached to the proper, timely submission of the forms, we are forced to send people door to door to collect the info. And you must think we are stupid, because these "feds" you refer to are regular people; not police in uniforms or anyone looking remotely official. Last census, I got a "scary" visit from these "feds" in the form of a sweet, elderly couple who were going around with a little clip board in hand.
"That is such crap & you know it…."
Show me some evidence that the Republican Party doesn't race-bait. Let's start with "Barack the Magic Negro." Tell me how that's a heartwarming song about racial integration.
As for how racial minorities get abused, remember, I've lived several times in minority neighborhoods. I don't have the nickname "Crazy White Boy" ("Khumpthan Farang" in Thai) for nothing. I've been denied the right to vote because my last name sounds too black, and I'm as white as fresh snow. I can tell you this: there ain't no city construction projects going down in the 'Hood. They only do improvements where white people live. I live in a white neighborhood now, and it's amazing. A water main breaks, and someone comes to fix it. In a black neighborhood, it only gets fixed illegally. It gets fixed by a guy who works for the city water department. But not on the clock. When he's on the clock, he's fixing upper middle class suburban neighborhoods. When he gets off the clock, he's fixing our neighborhood, but we have to steal the materials because the government won't pay for it. But he doesn't have much time for that, does he? And progress is slow in those neighborhoods. Without the government funding that the white neighborhoods get, you have to do it on your own. And that takes more time.
Strawman. Fact is, this is a political move that will bring the census into a White House that has shown itself quite amenable to breaking its own promises and hiring cheats.
The fact is you can't address my central argument: statistical sampling is more accurate than straight counting. You want straight counting because it's less accurate and biased towards Republicans. You want bias in the system because bias works in your favor. I want statistical sampling because it is mathematically accurate. For me, math and science take precedence over politics. For you, politics and the Bible take precedence over math and science.
I'm not addressing your central argument because it isn't relevant to my point.
