Mitch McConnell, the Democrats’ Best Buddy (Update: BOHICA!)

| February 2, 2009 | Comments (2)

Conservatives, we have a problem.

His name is Mitch McConnell. He is the leader of the Senate Republicans and he is taking them right off the edge of a cliff into Permanent Minority Gorge.

He’s not content just to be a bumbling politician, though. He’s intent on taking the economy into the abyss with him. His latest scheme is to “fix” the stimulus bill by nationalizing the mortgage industry. His plan would have the Federal government extend mortgages to “credit-worthy borrowers” (read: anyone with a pulse) at a full percentage point under where the 30-year fixed mortgagee rate is right now (read: undercut the private mortgage market) and guarantee those mortgages for a couple years (read: put you on the hook for the mortgages when they default, which lots and lots of them will).

This is his big “fix” for a 900 billion-dollar boondoggle that will stall any economic recovery we’re even thinking of having in the next few years.

Michelle Malkin is even more ticked at him than I, which I really didn’t think possible. She’s going to be a lot more ticked when she remembers that McConnell was just re-elected, which means that we can’t get rid of his weak-kneed “leadership” until 2012.

Right now, Mitch McConnell is nothing more than a toady for the totalitarian Democrats who are doing their dead-level best to grow the government so large that we can never get out from under it. He needs to scrap his plan and start showing some real leadership or we conservatives will find someone to replace him. Perhaps he can take a quick trip over to the House of Representatives and see if one of the Republicans there can lend him a spine.

UPDATE: Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker in Tennessee are behind McConnell’s plan, too. Chalk it up, folks. It’s all over except for a few niggling details about who gets your money (hint: not you). The Democrats Congressional Vote-Buying Bill will pass and it’s going to hurt worse than we can imagine.

It's always possible to get out from under such arrangements. The founders, in their wisdom, have left us tools that we haven't even had to dust off in two centuries.

Do not fear, make them fear.

I've listened to all I can take from Senator Mitch McConnell and his cronies, so I decided to answer them with this video.
