It’s Looking a Lot Like 1979
It is never a good sign when our President gives a murderous tyrant a reason to talk smack about us.
US President Barack Obama’s offer to talk to Iran shows that America’s policy of “domination” has failed, the government spokesman said on Saturday.
“This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed,” Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.
“Negotiation is secondary, the main issue is that there is no way but for (the United States) to change,” he added.
The Iranian government ought to recognize a weak President when it sees one. The current Islamist government was born from Jimmy Carter’s tyrant-coddling realpolitik and President Obama has drawn his foreign-policy advisers from that very same well.
We’ve traveled this road and we can see where it ends. When we embolden Arab tyrants, we make ourselves hypocrites to the Arab people who have to live under them. Our hypocrisy builds hatred because the Arab people can plainly see how we refuse to put our high rhetoric about freedom to work for them like we do for so many others. How could they not hate us when they see how willing we are to push for freedom in so many other places yet eagerly ally ourselves with their oppressors in the name of “stability”?
We started down a different, better road under George Bush, though thanks to our own State Department and people like Colin Powell, we did not get as far down that road as we should have. Let us hope we are smart enough not to turn our backs on the progress we’ve made and head down Carter’s road once more.

Its not a matter of being smart enough; Obama thinks we deserved what we got on 9/11…that we asked for it because of our previous policies. Not sure he thinks all of our chickens have come home yet….
9/11 happened because we were seen as weak. The PIMP doesn't have a clue when it comes to foreign policy – It doesn't help having Billary as Sec of State.
