Yet Another Tax Cheat in the Obama Administration
What is it with Obama’s appointees not paying their taxes? First, it was Tim Geithner who decided he didn’t need to pay taxes for four years. Now, it’s Health and Human Services nominee Tom Daschle who neglected to pay taxes on a private luxury car and driver he was given by a rich Democratic friend for several years. Daschle made his tax bill right only during the vetting process.
So, again, it’s another high-ranking Democrat who didn’t come clean until he absolutely had to. Daschle’s tax bill came to just over $100,000 dollars over three years. His excuse is that he didn’t know he needed to pay taxes on any of it. He figured that chauffeur service was just a gift from a rich buddy.
Yeah, okay.
I find it very interesting that the people who want to jack your taxes through the roof don’t seem to be willing to pay their fair share.
Oh, the other interesting thing here? Daschle, despite having worked not a day in the health care industry, is going to head up President Obama’s attempt to nationalize our health care system, which will increase your taxes even more. Hypocrisy doesn’t seem to be much of an impediment to the Obama administration. It’s just another case of “do as I say, not as I do”.
UPDATE: Looks like Daschle may be a bigger tax cheat than we initially supposed. On top of that, he was doing an awful lot of lobbying work and we all remember what big noise the President made of not hiring any lobbyists, right?

I just heard the statement put out by one Democrat…sounds an awful lot like the same stuff they said with the last guy. We are at a critical time blah blah blah and it is crucial we have this one guy who clearly just made a mistake on his taxes blah blah blah.
One thing I have seen through the years – A Democrat will NEVER tell the truth. Grand Jury interview or on live broadcasts it makes no difference.
Daschle's "gee, I didn't have any idea" is _so_ bogus.
Some 10-15 years ago, a firm my husband worked for was investigated. They had government contracts, and questions were raised about the honesty of the bids. _Congressional_ hearings resulted in two men being given _jail_ time because of a phone conversation in which one of them mentioned that "there had to be some meatballs in the spaghetti". Honestly.
Military members who deal with contractors have to pay for any meals eaten at the contractors facilities, in order to avoid accusations of bribes. Honestly.
Accepting gifts is reportable. Daschle knows it. He's a liar.
