Bye Bye Blago, Bye Bye
Our long national Laugh-In skit is over. Rod Blagojevich was impeached today by the Illinois State Senate and his Lt. Governor was named Governor to replace him.
I’m actually sad that the Blago Sago is coming to an end. I think it’s good for voters to have a living, breathing example of everything that’s wrong with Democratic big-city machine politics on their television screens every could of days. It might start to make them wonder if the unrepentant corruption and untrammeled arrogance they’re seeing in him also lives in certain other Democratic big-city machine politicians they know.
Besides, they guy was really entertaining. He did everything just short of dropping to his knees and singing “Oh Mine Papa” on camera. I’m kind of surprised that the folks at Saturday Night Live only really got one good skit out of him. They must have been busy with their one gazillionth George Bush joke or figuring a new way to keep Tina Fey’s comedy career alive.
