phantom-of-the-operaSenator Oprah? Don’t laugh, it could have happened.

The Democrats have themselves a genuine Phantom of the Opera situation right now. Governor Blagojevich has been lurking around in the sewer of Democratic politics for years only to burst forth intent on making his presence known once again to the diva who lives in the White House. Will someone step forward, as Raoul, to vanquish Phantom Blago?

Probably not. But it’ll be fun to see someone try.

In related news, Democratic Senator Russ Feingold is not amused that his party’s runaway governors are not listening to their betters in Washington and wants to repeal the Seventeenth Amendment. He is apparently serious.

His contention appears to be that the 17th amendment doesn’t go far enough… So, yes, it’s a call for repeal, but more like replacement than removal.
