Tim Geithner’s confirmation hearing just went full-on stupid. He’s gone from saying that he made an everyday mistake (not true) to pleading cluelessness (wait…what?). Now he’s decided to take a hint from his boss and toss someone else under the bus. His latest excuse for not paying taxes for four years is that it’s all the fault of Turbo Tax.

The guy who is going to run the IRS freely confessed that he doesn’t know how to use off-the-shelf tax preparation software.

Allah mildly calls shenanigans on Geithner’s newest excuse and muses about whether Republicans will actually dig in their heels on the nomination. I think they should, if for no other reason than someone has to stand up for competency in Washington. If the GOP won’t do it, no one will. It doesn’t look like that’ll happen, though.

All the more reason that conservatives need to rid their own house of unprincipled louses before they start taking on the Democrats.
