That rumbling you heard throughout the land yesterday was all the Founding Fathers of this country spinning in their graves as Barack Obama compared his drive for bigger, more intrusive government, higher taxes, and more regulations on all of us to the American Revolution.

President-elect Barack Obama is calling on Americans to live up to the courage and sacrifice of the country’s founders as they strive to redeem the promise of freedom.

In a speech to a crowd gathered in a flag-draped waiting room at Philadelphia’s 30th St. train station, Obama talked of the heavy challenges facing people now, including a staggering economy and global warming.

He said people must recognize that there will be “false starts and setbacks, frustrations and disappointments,” but argued that this is not the time to get discouraged. Obama said the American Revolution “was — and remains — an ongoing struggle in the hearts and minds of the people to live up to our freedom.”

No, no, no. Wrong, wrong, WRONG!!

Would it be too much to ask our President-Elect, who claims to be a Constitutional scholar, to read a history book?

We didn’t have any freedom to “live up to” until the American Revolution. It was that Revolution that established a nation of individuals who possessed rights as opposed to serfs granted rights by a secular authority. Indeed, the Revolution gave us a weak central government with specific, limited powers, which is exactly the kind of government that Barack Obama does not want. Our Founders were pretty smart and knew their history. They know that the only way to ensure that we would retain our individual freedoms – the very freedoms that progressives like our President-Elect want to take away from us to supposedly protect us – was to reject big government entirely.

Rob Port expands on Obama’s historical distortion and gives a much better Revolution to compare to Barack Obama’s desired government.

One Response to “History, Mr. President. You’re Doing It Wrong!”

I’ve heard him giving this speech twice now and still can’t believe a bunch of idiots voted for a guy who sees our constitution as fundamentally broken & how only people who “love America” can & will change it into something no longer recognizable. This is like meeting someone you want to marry & saying I really love you so much & because I love you, I’m going to arrange for you to lose 50 lbs, get a boob job or peck implants, switch from meet eating to vegetarianism, change your religion, get a new job, new hobbies, and so on…. Oh, but I love you!

These people don’t love America – they hate it. Why would anyone want to drastically change something they already love?
