I’ve been reading some stories lately that tell me that all is not peaches and cream between our soon to be President and the Congressmen who we’ve been told exist to do his bidding. Egos have been bruised. Feelings hurt. A torrid love-affair between veteran politicians and crusty journalists and the brash novice who led them to victory is cooling before he even lays his hand on Linicoln’s Bible.

It’s an interesting story – the white-hot romance that sprang up from seemingly nowhere only to lessen in the sobering light of having to really govern instead of constantly carping. Sure, I could tell you that story. But I’d rather let Philip Bailey and the guys do it in their own smooth way.

For a while to love was all we could do.
We were young and we knew
and our eyes were alive.
Deep inside we knew our love was true
For a while we paid no mind to the past.
We knew love would last.
Ev’ry night, somethin’ right
would invite us to begin the dance.

Something happened along the way.
What used to be happy was sad.
Something happened along the way
and yesterday was all we had.

And oh after the love has gone,
How could you lead me on
and not let me stay around.
Oh ,oh, oh, after the love has gone,
what used to be right is wrong.
Can love that’s lost be found ?

Oh, let’s see if Obama can bring back the hearts he’s bruised and the attentions that have already begun to wander to other celebrities.

Meanwhile, let the song play on.
