Messsage to All Who Want to Chair the RNC: Promise Us the Head of Harry Reid

| December 28, 2008 | Comments (5)

The good news is that Senate Majority Leader and National Embarrassment Harry Reid’s approval rating is positively Bush-like, at 38 percent.

The bad news is that the Republicans have absolutely no one ready right now to run a serious campaign against him in 2010.

If you’re looking for a great example of why Mike Duncan, the current Chairman of the RNC, should not be re-elected to that position, look no farther than Nevada. Harry Reid should be sweating bullets right now, worried to death that he’s going to get his narrow little rump kicked six ways to Tuesday in 2010. Right now, he’s only moderately concerned, even though he has spent his time as the leader of the Senate being a miserable, nasty little sniping imp whose labored efforts to turn every statement he makes into a partisan slap at the President have rendered him only slightly more coherent than a drunken parrot with Tourette Syndrome. He is the face of progressive victory and a wicked little face it is.

The next Chairman of the RNC, whoever that turns out to be, needs to make his seat a top electoral priority for the party in the next election. Nothing will demonstrate the renewal of the party better than Harry Reid’s head mounted on the wall behind the RNC Chairman’s desk.

    I love your description of Harry Reid lol. I hit the mute button whenever he comes on t.v. He and Nancy make my skin crawl.

    You conservatives like to hang your hat on Reed’s poor popularity. The problem with your theory is you don’t look at the reason for Reed (and Pelosi for that matter) poor ratings. The reason is that voters are disappointed that the Democrats have not stood up stronger against Bush and his Neo-Con policies. In addition, poll after poll show that voters are disappointed that the Democrats in the Senate and the Congress didn’t do more to fight Bush’s Iraq policy and end the war.

      @Robert

      Yeah, that's it! It's all George Bush's fault that Harry Reid's approval ratings are only slightly better than George Bush's! It's definitely George Bush's fault that Congress' approval ratings are at least half George Bush's, too!

      That makes all kind of sense.

  3. Reid's a foul, greedy squirrel and Pelosi's a shrewish Vampira… I trust neither of them and would definitely count the silverware after dining with either of them. Chip Saltsman from TN, on the other hand, has suddenly separated himself from the drooling GOP pack with his recent Christmas CD gift-giving choice. Not the most worthy of reasons to make him RNC Chair, but an intriguing starting point (and, hey, not anywhere near as hypocritical a reason as that of the Dems choosing clueless Caroline Kennedy for NY Senate). The parody "Barack the Magic Negro" has unexpectedly propelled his career. I like a pol with a sense of humor.

    BTW: for anyone who is hyping up to go postal on me for citing that song as being racist (which it isn't and I'm not), be aware that it has been out for more than a year and The Messiah was asked about his reaction to it months ago by the media, to which he summarily said he thought it was pretty funny and you can't take yourself too seriously. Or something close to that. So, please swallow down any misguided outrage and just chill. Even Rush Limbaugh thought Obama's response was classy.

  4. [...] – Harry Reid (D).  He’s a lightening rod for bad press and his approval rating was at 38% before the Stimulus bill.  But before the GOP starts playing “Tom Daschle, the Sequel” [...]
