Twenty-Five Minutes of Truth on the Mortgage Mess

Peter Wallison, the economist who spent several years warning us that the government’s hamhanded manipulation of the mortgage markets would turn out badly, gave a very good speech on the subject at Reason Magazine’s 40th anniversary shindig. The government’s culpability in causing the housing bubble and pushing garbage mortgages on people who could never in a million years afford them has been a woefully-underreported story by the MSM. Wallison’s speech fills in many of the blanks that the major media outlets have created.
