President Bush Burns the Economy to Save It.

President George W. Bush, in an interview that aired today on CNN, said he’s “considering all options” for a bailout of General Motors and Chrysler.
“I have abandoned free-market principles to save the free- market system,” Bush said. The U.S. economy is “in a huge recession,” he said.
I seriously have no idea how that works. You do not burn a village to save it. You do not kill a patient to cure them. And you do not throw free-market principles into the dumpster to save the free-market.
The government is persistent in a way nothing else in this country is. What is put in place today, even if it’s a temporary measure will be around in a year or ten or fifty. Once the President decides to torch free-market principles as the basis for government action on the economy, bringing them back will be pluperfect hell. Every single Republican, or anyone who values the right to own property, dispose of your property the way you see fit, and have a government that treats what it takes from you as precious, ought to be screaming bloody murder at the White House first thing tomorrow morning.
