I was not pro McCain...I don't see him as an "maverick", I see him as a rebel. His experience as a prisoner demonstrates that he is a strong willed rebel, but that says nothing about his ability to be independent. In fact, his rebelliousness seems to be demonstrated by his willingness to buck his own party and negotiate with the opposing party instead. I just don't see much virtue in that.

As for the Palin thing...that's interesting. I wonder if he didn't misjudge her. I think that Obama picked Biden because he wanted someone who wouldn't get in the way - someone who would sit down and shut up if told to do so. Maybe McCain thought that Palin would show up poorly on her grasp of national issues and soon be ignored as a nobody.

You know...I almost think that the GOP decided this was going to be Obama's election, and the other GOP candidates backed out or dropped out because they thought that the party and McCain would be hurt the least by losing. In other words, they expected to lose and didn't want a loser to run in 2012. The primaries were just show.

I'm so ready for him to go away forever. He has never shown Sarah the gratitude she deserves for making him at least appear to be a contender. I imagine he believes his supporters (all 10 of them) who say she's the one who lost it for him; rather than believing the truth, which is that she's the reason his loss wasn't so unbelievably embarrassing that he can now still go on TV with his chin up, just months after the election. In a way, I’m kind of disappointed. Her running on his ticket is allowing the “moderate” delusion to continue.
