Sarah Kicks Oprah’s Invite to the Curb

| December 5, 2008 | Comments (3)

E.M. Zanotti’s latest post on Oprah and Sarah begins thusly,

Listen, Oprah sucks.

It only gets better from there.

The upshot is that Oprah decided, for political reasons, not to bolster her sagging ratings (caused by her enthusiastic endorsement of Barack Obama) by having Sarah Palin on her show until after the election. Sarah has not exactly rushed to pay homage to the second most famous O in America, which has confused Oprah mightily. She is not used to being refused.

But, really, why in the world would Sarah rush to Oprah’s famous couch even as she is spending the entire Inauguration Week shilling for P-E Obama? What gain could Sarah possibly realize from a fluff-heavy interview when what she’s really after are opportunities to show herself an effective and smart politician? Oprah’s not about to give Sarah the chance to talk issues at any length nor is she going to give her any real time to talk in earnest about the slanders lobbed toward her with the tacit approval of Oprah’s President.

Oprah shouldn’t be terribly shocked that she’s been given the silent treatment. Sarah has no good reason to do anything else.

  1. I gotta tell ya, when I read this today, I was very proud of Gov. Palin.

  2. Jimmie says:

Nice to see you! I'm proud of her as well. She could be a legit, long-term national leader. I'd like to see that.

  3. Let me get this straight, a lot of her viewing audience wanted Gov. Palin on the show, a lot of her staff wanted her on the show, but Ms. Winfrey wouldn't have any of that. She wanted to ONLY support Mr. Obama and claim she wasn't pushing a political candidate.

Now that she's got her man in office, she's whining about Gov. Palin not wanting to be on her show? Ms. Winfrey is behaving like a spoiled brat. Those that surround themselves with only people that like and adore them, are typically shocked when they find out that not everyone cares about their opinion or to be around them in the first place. Now she's probably going to play it off as Gov. Palin being petty.

If she really wants to speak with Gov. Palin, let Oprah do it on Sarah's terms (and let the Gov. ask Oprah questions). That'd be much more entertaining.
