Canada’s Coming Coup?
Imagine what would happen if, sometime in 2010, the leaders of the Republican and Libertarian parties walked into the White House and told him that he has to resign because they were taking control of the government.
Imagine if they really could do this.
That’s pretty much what could happen in Canada if the collected heads of knuckle who run the Liberal, NDP, and Bloc Quebecois parties get their way. They have formed a coalition with the current intention of staging a coup d’état and essentially overturning the results of Canada’s last lawful and free election. Their pretense for this is the current global economic downturn and Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s reaction to it. Harper angered the left-wing parties by adding to his economic plan several items that would remove power from the left including the right of Federal employees to strike and removing government subsidies for political parties.
Short of involving the army to put down any protest, it is the most third-world, undemocratic, and destructive temper tantrum that these disaffected politicians could throw. They have, thanks to their greed for power, put their country right in the middle of the biggest Constitutional crisis Canada may have ever seen. The people of Canada should not settle for it. Regardless of political affiliation, the country needs to rise as one and tell the rebels that in a free nation of laws, elections are how government is decided, not fits of political pique. The people have spoken and this government is the one they have chosen. Nothing else must be allowed, for the good of Canada.
Mark Steyn has a dire view of two potential outcomes that bears reading. If the rebels don’t relent, they could hurt their country very, very badly..

Even more astonding is your failure to know the canadian constitution or for that matter parliament. Your either purposely lying, or your ignorant of how parliament functions.
We do not elect a president or a king in this country. I voted conservative, you shame us. I want steven harper to resign and Jim Prentice replace him.
In what particular, cindy, have I lied?
I know that such a coup is constitutional. I know that it would also be an enormous crisis. I know that it would make Canada look like a third-world banana republic. Where is my lie?
