A Loving Message to America’s Schoolchildren from a Canadian Friend
Can we make Wendy Sullivan our Secretary of Education now? It’s kind of a shame, though, that she (a Canadian, as you’ll find out) had to be the one to defend the Pledge of Alliegance to an American public school teacher.
An entertaining excerpt:
Due to the lack of decent television programming in my country, I was raised to the age of five believing I was an American. I didn’t find out till Ronald Reagan’s inauguration that Canada is not only not a state, but an entirely separate country! I was robbed, I tell ya!
Prior to the dawn of my 6th year and Governor Reagan’s ascent to the presidency, I had learned very important things. The Pledge of Allegiance. The Star Spangled Banner. Spanish, thanks to Sesame Street. I was diverse! I didn’t need a “community organizer” to make me feel patriotic. Pity it was for the wrong country!
After the magnificent letdown that was life in Canada (without Grandpa Reagan, I might add), I sought solace in Hockey, our national religion. Or at least, I thought it was our religion. I was wrong. Instead we had bizarre customs like “free health care” (three lies for the price of one) and the “Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms”. Both are ironic, and the antithesis of America,
Read it all. Pay special attention to the bit about the coup d’état. It’s real and it’s likely to happen.

Hi Jimmie,
The teacher wasn't the problem – her students were, damn them. Ingrates – I'd give anything to be an American and be truly free.
Sad/funny anecdote: I made an appointment with the Department of Homeland Security back in August to talk about joining the Army. Seriously – I was ready to fight and die for my chance to be an American. Guess what happened? A MEXICAN working at DHS informed me that I had no legal basis to change my status. A MEXICAN!!
Just kill me, please.

@RightGirl –
The way I see it, the teacher could have delivered at least part of that message herself.
Okay, I'd sign you up. You need to be one of us, as much as I appreciate your being there fighting the proto-fascists and assorted rabble.
