Putting the “Mental” in “Environmental”
Why do I simply adore Michelle Malkin? Because she can make me laugh out loud with blog post titles like this:
Dim bulb to light dim Capitol Christmas tree
The bulb in question is Nancy “Single Digits” Pelosi and she’ll be lighting the LED-bedecked Capitol Christmas tree this week. The lights are, of course, her nod to whatever dopey “green” initiative she’s cooked up. I think she’d rather we didn’t notice that they’ll be draped over a 70-foot tall tree that was uprooted from its native soil and either trucked or flown to Washington from Montana. My guess is that the energy Pelosi’s lights will save would cancel out any but the tiniest fraction of the carbon emissions produced to get the tree to DC (and I’m not including all the carbon spewed into the atmosphere by the tens of thousands of visitors who will come to DC to see the tree).
It’s not the numbers that are important to the dopey environmental cultists like Pelosi, though. It’s the symbolism. Perhaps next year they’ll skill the tree entirely and put on a nice live Nativity scene. They could tell the story of the Three Wise People who traveled by environmentally-friendly camels many miles, guided by the Compact Fluorescent Bulb of the East to visit the Gore Child in his manger.
*snort* I’d love to see Michelle’s reaction to that.
