Narwhals, the Latest Victim of Global Warming Lots and Lots of Arctic Ice

| November 22, 2008 | Comments (3)

Remember all the way back in April when narwhals nudged out Polar Bears for the title of Next Species Offed Like a Sopranos Extra by Global Warming?

Go ahead, think back. I know it was seven long months ago. Who can remember back to those ancient times? But if you can recall way back then, you’ll remember that it was quite the story.

As it happens, narwhals – 200 of them up in Canada – are in big trouble. Seems they were swimming around in their newly-tropical paradise when Loving Mother Gaia played one heck of a prank on them. The ice, which we were told was gone, never to return until we mended our wicked ways, started living in yurts, and used burning buffalo dung for warmth, came back. In fact, the ice came back so quickly that it trapped the 200 narwhals such that they will die of either starvation or suffocation. The Canadian government sent in all manner of experts to try to rescue the Poster Animals for Global Warming, to no avail. So now hunters have been authorized to “cull” the narwhals so at least their deaths will be quick and useful.

Useful, that is, to the people in that area instead of the Cult of Global Warming.

it is inrefutable proof about Obama's forged COLB/BC

you might want to start an issue about this

As the mainstream media don't seem to be run by honest people anymore

  2. I know it sounds ridiculous, but there's actually a good reason why global warming would cause more ice where the narwhals are.

It's been predicted for a few years that this would happen-I actually did a report on this for a science class in college two years ago.

The problem is that while there's less ice OVERALL in the Arctic Seas, the area where the narwhals live–Baffin Bay and the Davis Strait–is seeing more ice than usual.

The reason for this is because as Greenland's ice melts and flows into the Bay, it lowers the salinization (salt content %) of the water, which makes it easier for the water to freeze in the winter.

Except that the Arctic Ice all around is returning as the weather cools, strangely enough. As I recall, it's rebounded to levels higher than it was before Al Gore even noticed it.
