Suddenly, Comparing the President to Hitler Isn’t Okay

| November 19, 2008 | Comments (0)

Wait…it’s not cool anymore to compare the President to Hitler? When the heck did that go out of style?

Oh…right. The new President is a Democrat. I keep forgetting the whole progressive hypocrisy thing.

JWF has some appropriately arch comments on the matter including this perfectly brutal observation.

The fact anyone on the left has the gall to complain about Hitler analogies is more absurd that anyone on the right even making the claim.

I disagree that we should shun anyone making Hitler comparisons in the future, and not just because of the “what’s good for the goose” argument. If the comparison actually scans, then we shouldn’t be afraid to make it, like, for instance, if the President wants to raise a “civilian national security force” that’s as strong as the military.

That’s not to say that you have to make a Hitler comparison in that case. You could just as easily make a Mussolini or an FDR comparison there that would work as well. Still, frivolous comparisons, like we’ve seen for the past eight years, should be roundly condemned.
