But What is Their Position on Chickens Coming Home to Roost? Also, Fundamentalist Mob Leader Bush Didn’t Go to Church?
I wish the new President well in his search.
The United Church of Christ (UCC) invited President-elect Barack Obama to join a local congregation near the White House, anticipating the first family’s desire to worship in public despite risks to their image and safety.
The church, which is the same denomination that Obama and his family attended in Chicago, hand-delivered to Obama’s Senate office an invitation to join one of their many parishes in Washington.
I’mn not sure how many ministers there are in the DC area who preach “God damn America” and that God is only for black people, but if he really wants to find one, I’m sure he can.
The only problem with his search is that the UCC churches here aren’t nearly as politically-connected as they are in Chicago. Did you forget that’s why he joined Jeremiah Wright’s church in the first place? Did you forget that Obama has maintained that he went to Wright’s church for twenty years but never really listened to any of the sermons?
This little tidbit made me laugh as well.
Obama could be the first regularly churchgoing president since Bill Clinton, according to religious and political experts, which has led them to speculate on the many factors the soon-to-be first family must consider in making their choice.
So the guy who was President after Bill Clinton (you know, ol’ What’s His Name), the guy we’ve been told for eight years is the leader of an America Taliban of fundamentalist religious nuts, the guy who churched-up the White House more than any President ever, that guy hasn’t gone to church regularly for eight years?
You would have thought that someone would have mentioned this by now. We wild-eyed evangelical witch-burners prefer our leaders to actually go to church once and again, what with it being a specific directive from our Angry Sky God and all.
Man, the things you learn in the last two months of a President’s second term. What I wouldn’t give for some sort of company that investigated things and reported their findings to me thought some sort of convenient medium like newsprint or the television or even the internet. Gosh, someone should invent that. They’d make a bundle!

They're saying (or implying) that Bush didn't go to church regularly for the last 8 years….and this is the first we're hearing of it?
uh, did you ever ask or even wonder?
I hate to break it to you like this, but it's no big secret.
But the simple truth is that it makes no difference. The most rabid religious-right folks are also very, very sectarian; so he'd be going to the wrong church if he did. Oh yeah, did the reporter mention that Mr.Prez works on Sundays (and Saturdays). If he put his "tithe" in the plate what kind of corruption outcry would there be? Did I hear someone say "insider trading"?
