Oh, So Now We Have a Truce?
I agree with Mark Hemingway that this is a nice gesture.
Problem is, it’s a fairly empty one. You don’t get a cookie for saying “Well, hey, I’m listening to you now” after eight years of likening me and mine to genocidal maniacs, slave owners, brainless drones, and the Taliban, just to mention a few of the most common insults. The left has always been full of cheap words and I don’t doubt for a second that if John McCain had won, we’d be seeing yet another “I’m Sorry” web site. Call me when they start putting some actions on the table.
