Troopergate: Alaska Personnel Board Exonerates Sarah and Todd Palin Completely
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A report has cleared Gov. Sarah Palin of ethics violations in the firing of her public safety commissioner.
The report, released Monday, said: “There is no probable cause to believe that the governor, or any other state official, violated the Alaska Executive Ethics Act in connection with these matters.” It was prepared by Timothy Petumenos, an independent counsel for the Alaska Personnel Board.
The report also found that Todd Palin did nothing wrong and that the special investigation headed up by Palin opponent Senator Hollis French was wrong to conclude that she had abused her power.
I don’t expect to see the Democratic Party issuing any apologies for smearing Palin or her husband over the past couple of months, though they really should. This finding doesn’t get Palin’s good name back, but it’s a good thing when common-sense (what does “At-Will Employee mean, hmmm?) wins out over attempted political hatchet jobs.

This outcome is not what it seems. In order to counter the Legislature's findings she filed ethics charges against herself with the state 3-person personnel board. Two of the members of the board were appointed by Governor Palin. The board hired an independent investigator friendly to Republicans in general and Governor Palin in particular. The outcome was well known in advance.
