Report: Obama Tossed Out a Couple Anti-Semitic Bombs at Farewell Dinner (Upate: Rashid Khalidi Really Was a PLO Mouthpiece)
Why won’t the Los Angeles Times release a video of Barack Obama at a farewell dinner for anti-Semitic genocide apologist Rashid Khalidi? According to Doug Ross, it’s because the tape contains a couple choice quotes from the Obamessiah that would effectively lose him the election. He has a solid source who has seen part of the tape and tells Ross about it.
Saw a clip from the tape. Reason we can’t release it is because statements Obama said to rile audience up during toast. He congratulates Khalidi for his work saying “Israel has no God-given right to occupy Palestine” plus there’s been “genocide against the Palestinian people by Israelis.”
It would be really controversial if it got out. That’s why they will not even let a transcript get out.
Yeah, I can see why they’d hold onto that baby until after November 4th.
I find it curious that the Obama campaign has been so quiet about this. Maybe that’s because it hasn’t made the big-time MSM reports yet. Maybe it’s because Obama really doesn’t want that tape to see the light of day.
Jim Treacher reminds us of something I thought about when I first heard this story.
And to all you other [9-letter word that rhymes with "sickbeds"]: If you can twist a diplomatically worded 90-second greeting on video into a ludicrous claim that Palin is a secessionist, we can bring up Obama’s active, in-person participation in this event.
Darned right we can. Let’s see the tape, guys. Stop ducking your job and act like freaking newspapermen.
UPDATE: Martin Kramer sets the record straight about Rashid Khalidi, his involvement with the PLO, and the story behind his presence at the Madrid peace talks (where he was not welcomed by the Israelis (via Michael Rubin).

So this tape is for real? I mean, after the "whitey" thing, and the API stupidity (the comments section over there is good for a laugh, though), we're to believe that this isn't another political Sasquatch?
BTW- Don't you think that you're a little to flippant with your characterization of "anti-semitic"? I never knew that criticism of Israel made one a bigot. I always thought there was a difference.
ChenZen – The LA times has confirmed there is a tape, they just won't show it. And I see what you are saying about criticism vs. bigotry, but I do think accusing the Israelies of geonocide crosses that line. And when you add to that that O'man's pastor says Israel is a dirty word & Jesus was a black baby and all the other non-sense that Barack has surrounded himself with….then, yes, it becomes flaming bigotry in my opinion.
So this tape is for real?
Well, if you believe the L.A. Times. So I take your point.
Chen – No, it's not flippant at all. Khalidi has directly called for the destruction of Israel and he was the mouthpiece for the PLO and Yasser Arafat, both supremely anti-Semitic. That makes him anti-Semitic and an advocate of genocide.
And if the tape's not real, then why has the L.A. Times said that it is several times?
Jimmie-
But you said Obama was dropping anti-semitic bombs, so I was referring to the alleged quotes you bolded.
BTW- Protest pics
I'd consider them highly anti-Semitic for two reasons. First, they're the very same things that the anti-Semitic folks have been saying about the Israeli people for decades. Second, the second statement, at the very least is flat-out wrong. I'd say that saying that peddling the falsehood that the Israeli people have been committing genocide against the Palestinians is pretty darned anti-Semitic.
It's especially egregious of him to do this in front of a guy who actually has had a hand in getting some genocide going.
"Khalidi has directly called for the destruction of Israel"
Got a source for that? I've read a few essays from Khalidi and he certainly didn't say anything like that. Unless you believe that a two-state solution amounts to the "destruction of Israel." Of course, you would be at odds with the Israeli leadership on that one.
"the mouthpiece for the PLO and Yasser Arafat"
No he wasn't. He was an adviser at the Madrid peace talks. And why was that? Because the Israelis wouldn't allow anyone directly associated with the PLO at the talks. But the Mossad deemed Khalidi acceptable because he had no direct connection to the PLO. Now, I'm sure you think the Mossad is some kind of radical anti-semitic, Israel-hating organization, but reality says otherwise.
You're just making this stuff up, aren't you?
As for the tape being real, that's not the issue. The issue is whether Ross's source is real and accurately representing what's on the tape. Given the blatant misrepresentation of Khalidi's views, it's pretty hard to take anything Ross says seriously.
But really, if your claims about Khalidi are true, then is McCain not an anti-Semite for giving him about a half million dollars? Well, given McCain's relationship with John Hagee, I guess I shouldn't be surprised if he is.
Rashid Khalidi was the director of the PLO's press agency, called WAFA, for 25 years or so during which time the PLO was calling nearly constantly for the destruction of Israel. Those statements went through WAFA, which means they went directly through Khalidi. He was also, at one point, the executive director of The Electronic Intifada. How much more direct can you get?
Also Khalidi supports a one-state solution, not two. He said in an article that he wrote just this year that the two-state solution was "deeply flawed–if it has not become unrealizable" and that Israeli actions over the past forty years was a "juggernaut" that made "its realization in any meaningful form impossible".
Again, you've ducked the point of the post and, worse, mounted a fantasy-based defense of a sympathizer (at least) of genocide. Good job.
Jimmie-
.
Again, I'm going to maintain that criticism of Israel is not anti-semitism. Bigotry towards Jews is distinctly different, and claiming that criticism of Israel's actions or policies is such waters down and distorts the meaning of the term IMO.
To my point, there are anti-zionist Jews. Are they anti-semitic?
People should be able to voice opinions on the M.E. conflict without being pinned with a label that represents a disdain for an entire religion.
[Fixed - J]
oops. rogered my tags, i did
Except that he didn't say "the nation of Israel" is committing genocide, but "Israelis". There is a difference and I'd say that Barack Obama, who gives a great speech, wouldn't say that capriciously.
"How much more direct can you get?"
How about direct enough to convince Mossad vetters that he had a direct connection to the PLO? That you would trust the Washington Times over Israel's intelligence service seems a little strange to me.
"that the two-state solution was “deeply flawed–if it has not become unrealizable”"
Nice cutoff, Jimmie. Here's the rest of the sentence: "-there are also flaws in the alternatives, grouped under the rubric of the one-state solution." He's hardly endorsing the one state solution there, is he? If you want to pull something out of context, at least make sure the context isn't in the same sentence.
As for ducking the point of there post, there is not much to say about it. The LA Times agreed to not release it as a condition of seeing it. If they compromise their presumption of trust, they won't get this kind of information in the future. They can't release it. I'd like to see it myself because I think the unfounded speculation about its contents is absurd. But I have to side with press freedom here.
As for fantasy, why should I believe someone who says this:
"Khalidi has directly called for the destruction of Israel"
and then refuses to provide any sourcing. That's an extraordinary claim. Let's have a quote from Khalidi. A direct quote, not Bill Kristol paraphrasing Tom Friedman, paraphrasing Khalidi.
As for Khalidi's alleged support of genocide, again, I'd like to see a quote of this support. Or even a quote sympathetic to genocide. John Hagee blames the Jews for Hitler's actions against them. That's sympathy for genocide. Got anything like that from Khalidi? Or any actual genocide?
Show the tape
It is important to remember that one can disagree with Israeli policy without being anti-semitic. There is no evidence that 'God gave Palestine to the Jews'. All groups should be free to believe their own myths without imposing them on others.
Yes, but "palling around" with an anti-Semite and applauding while he makes explicitly anti-Semitic remarks isn't exactly "disagreeing with Israeli policy".
