Pittsburgh Woman’s Story of Attack is a Hoax (The Left’s Other Politically-Motivated Crimes The Past Month Are Not)
The young woman who reported that she had been mugged, beaten, and had the letter “B” scratched on her face admitted to the police that she made up the story.
Which means that of the ten stories of political violence committed against John McCain supporters in the past month, nine are not hoaxes.
I expect that a lot of progressives will be taking a victory lap, high-fiving themselves, and coming ’round to laugh and point at the people who found the story credible. To them I say: Kiss the whitest part of my backside you preening hypocrites. Your ideological chums were the ones peddling nasty little smears against the President in 2004 even after they were obviously found to be wrong. You hauled out the “fake but accurate” defense and tried your best to ram it down our throats.
I will not be lectured about the veracity of anything I say by anyone who is still wondering if Trip Palin really is Sarah Palin’s child or not. I won’t hear a word about decency from someone who supports a candidate who worked arm in arm with a guy who was fine with killing 25 million Americans in re-education camps.
Indeed, this story turns out to be a hoax. Oh well. Dan Rather seems to be doing quite well for himself and I’ll just have to survive too. The young lady will get whatever justice the law decides is necessary and life will go on. The violence I have written about in the very recent past, however, has not been a hoax and Obama supporters have been very energetic in following out their candidate command to “get in their face”. So there is no “win” for you here because although this story is “fake” the presence of violence from the left is very much “accurate”. You don’t get to run a victory lap for hitting .100, guys.
UPDATE: Andy McCarthy has been getting the same kind of flak as I have and has a very similar response.

But guess what? This story was not a hoax:

An Obama campaigner was slashed in the face by an angry McCain supporter. And the cops actually witnessed the attack and immediately arrested the attacker. Oh, the irony.
You mean like the nine crimes committed against McCain supporters since the middle of last month?
Yeah, your outrage is sputtering. Go clean up yor own house before you scoff at mine, k?
This is a terrible hoax and, as well as being horrified, I am sorry that this young woman is clearly quite ill. As your left leaning progressive* friend, a mother of peace loving bio and stepkids and a concerned citizen, please know that I reject violence whether perpetrated by the left, right, center or self-inflicted.
Please also know that I can understand why you may have jumped too soon on this story. We're all a little tense and knee-jerky these days and something like this can tip it all over. It's probably best that we leave such melodrama to Matt Drudge and Daily Kos.
In the meantime, I send my best to you, Jimmie.
Yer pal GraceD
* Progressive to a Point. That's my new political affiliation. I am anti-gun control and an enthusiastic capitalist. The progressive part comes in where I'm happy to pay taxes in order to maintain the public's safety and welfare. But, no free handouts for my kids. They have to work for their allowance.
Well ain't that a fine kettle of fish. Thanks bitch. Now the MSM will run with this til the fucking election. Again, I say..Thanks bitch.
So damn mad right now I'd carve a B in her face myself.
Grace!! it is indeed good to see you.
Yes, Progressive to a Point works for what I am as well. I call it Conservative Libertarian, but it works out in the same neighborhood as you. I pay for the stuff that I can't pay for myself as an individual citizen (y'know, police and fire and an army and other sundries) and I'm good with that.
What I'm just tired of is seeing how folks like me are the ones everyone's supposedly afraid of taking to the streets. I'm portrayed as the dangerously violent one even though me and mine haven't rioted since…ever!
It's gotten to the point where I'm pissed off about it and I'm tired of actual crimes getting overlooked just so the overarching media narrative of McCain supporters as crazed maniacs who are barely controlling their urge to commit mass murder against black people and anyone who dissents against their Coming Reich Wing.
I'm sorry I know that's not very compassionate, but I don't have much compassion for idiots.
But, you see, they ARE batting 1.000 and not .100… They have distorted the truth and gotten away with it every time.
"I’m portrayed as the dangerously violent one even though me and mine haven’t rioted since…ever!"
Oh, god, stop being such a cry-baby.
Neither side is perfect. Both sides are equally guilty of foul play. That's politics. Most rational, non-ideological liberals AND conservatives accept this.
I'm a left-leaning Aussie girl. I have no problem with conservatives, only conservatives with a persecution complex. Your whining is as unattractive as your dogmatism. I mean, listen to yourself – even when you're wrong you're right! You're behaviour would impress even the most staunch fundamentalist.
Aussie girl, get real. Why don't you spend a week in here paying attention to the MSM–both what's there and what's not. And when Sarah Palin wears white it is coded racism according to the lefties–better for you to go to your comrades and talk to *them* about their whinging.
By the way, what's the difference between a right wing hoaxer and a leftie hoaxer? The Democrats whitewash it with, "But the nuance beneath it is true and it needs to be addressed, even if *THAT* event didn't really happen." People on the right, on the other hand, actually come out and condemn it. In this instance, it was doubted by many on the right long before she admitted it.
Whinging isn't what you need to be focusing on, but some serious issues with truth. And the left are more "truth challenged" than I ever believed possible.
"nine are not hoaxes"
Make that eight. This was made up as well:
The window of John McCain’s campaign bus was shot out and it was shot several times with paintballs in New Mexico (via Mary Katharine Ham)
There was only one source for this claim, an anti-Obama campaigner citing an anonymous source and even his follow up said there was nothing to support this occurring.
The link you've got there goes to a post featuring the headline "(UPDATED: No Reports to Police or Campaign)".
"Why don’t you spend a week in here paying attention to the MSM–both what’s there and what’s not."
Pay attention to something that isn't there? How does one do that, pray tell? Is one required to don a tin foil hat? Show me an article in a newspaper that says Palins wearing of white clothing is code that she's racist. Or is that the kind of non-existent article I should be paying attention to? I mean, please. You're quite mental, aren't you?
I've lived in the states for over two years now. Yes, the media can be biased, but it is equally biased. FOX is mainstream. The NY Post is mainstream. The National Review is mainstream. I could go on. The point is that intelligent people should take anything they read and watch with a grain of salt. Basically, try using your goddamn brain. Also, understand that an editorial is not the same as news. This seems to be a common theme here in the states. The amount of angry comments I read following an editorial is quite staggering. Don't people here know what an opionion is?
"But the nuance beneath it is true and it needs to be addressed, even if *THAT* event didn’t really happen.”
It's funny you should say this… To me… It should be addressed to Jimmie as he's been espousing this very idea. ie: "It doesn't matter if Todd was lying because the left are raging psychos and that's just the kind of thing they'd do.."
"In this instance, it was doubted by many on the right long before she admitted it."
Perhaps, but it was the right who jumped on the story and guilded the lily. Drudge and Fox were reporting it practically as fact while most other outlets were still putting on their shoes.
