The US Government has put three investigators on the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the one failing financial company the Federal government chose not to bail out. Subpoenas are flying and I do not doubt that in a year or so, the likes of Chris Dodd and Barney Frank, will praise the conviction of some hapless bank executive who was guilty of little more than pushing the exact mortgages our Democratic Congress demanded of him.

It seems like overkill to me. Glenn Reynolds wants a different investigation:

Can we get a similarly intense investigation into Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, or is there too much danger that it will involve members of Congress?

Well, we could, but I’m guessing that it would be characterized by the left as a “political” investigation. The Democrats have no end of useful idiots willing to keep them safe from the normal penalties for corrupt and stupid behavior.
