The things that the duly elected politicians do in office does more to discourage and disenfranchise voters and cause distrust and chaos within the political system. It's really about greed. It's about trying to get poor people an income, and those few greedy people taking advantage of a poorly supervised system.

Wow, this is conspiratorial at best, and really, the people involved aren't thinking that deep about it. That’s not true for the most part, in many states, that’s illegal. </blockquote>
Paying per registration is practically the same as setting a quota in order for the hourly employee to remain employed.....if not in method, at least it achieves the same overall affect. No matter which way it is done, the employee is still required to obtain an unrealistic number of registrations in order to get paid.

ACORN pays their workers per registration form.

That’s not true for the most part, in many states, that’s illegal.

Paying per registration is practically the same as setting a quota in order for the hourly employee to remain employed…..if not in method, at least it achieves the same overall affect. Which is, in effect, the same as paying to maximize the number of registrations, regardless of authenticity.

<a

I would agree with you, except for the background and history of the founder of the group and what the group was founded to do in the first place.
Contrary to what ACORN mambers say, the group was not founded to register people to vote. It was foudned to create as much chaos as possible with governmental institutions.
I think you'd agree it's accomplishing its purpose.

I’d love to see an economist deal with this issue: claiming that ACORN has a general strategy to benefit from blowback after the election seems like a silly violation of Occam’s razor.

I would agree with you, except for the background and history of the founder of the group and what the group was founded to do in the first place.

Contrary to what ACORN mambers say, the group was not founded to register people to vote. That's not true for the most part, in many states, that's illegal.
As I understand it, they normally set a quota for hourly workers. ie, "If you're claiming x hours on your timecard, you'd better have n registration forms to show for it."
It's a general principle that state laws support the de-politicization of voter registration: you can't throw them away, pay for them, give incentives, etc.
