A Vote for McCain Makes Kos Cry
Jim Treacher sent me a note that I need to buck up. After all, Kos is ready to take his victory lap and look how well he picks winners in an election.
Look, I think John McCain stinks on toast as a presidential candidate. He’s not had to seriously run a wining campaign for, what, 20 years? He should have crushed the empty suit socialist he’s running against, who also hadn’t run a winning campaign in a contested election in his entire life. He hasn’t because he’s as aimless on the campaign trail as he is purposeful and resolute as a Senator. But his resolution in the Senate seems mostly aimed toward picking fights with conservatives. I actually supported every major Republican candidate but Mike Huckabee over John McCain this year but my fellow right-wing voters saw fit to nitpick every one of them out of the race. So this is what we have.
This election is not over by a long shot. I think that what you’ll most likely see in November is a bunch of Republicans, including conservatives, dragging Johnny Mac’s flaccid campaign over the finish line. That will make me happy because it will drive the progressive left absolutely bonkers. It will mean that the very best progressive candidate they had, who has been given every possibly advantage including the sort of press coverage that Jesus Christ himself wouldn’t get were He to return to Earth in all his splendor, couldn’t even beat a moderate. Folks like Kos picked the most liberal candidate they could find and, as of right now, he can’t manage to pull away. They have to hate that.
However, McCain’s people shouldn’t get cocky. If I do vote for John McCain – and that is still a very big if – it will only be because of the presence of Sarah Palin. And the day McCain hits the White House I’ll be pushing as hard as I can for him to become a lame duck and not run for a second term. I’m thinking long-term here. The future of the conservative movement, and the Republican Party, lies with folks like Sarah Palin and not with the “go along with Democrats to get along” Republicans like John McCain who have fetishized bipartisanship to a near religious calling.
If I do vote for John McCain, it’ll be because of Sarah Palin but also because I want to see folks like Kos utterly humiliated. I want to be able to laugh him to scorn. That’s the proper thing to do with petty tyrants and progressive brownshirts.
I’m not there yet, though. I need to see more separation between McCain and Obama and I saw precious little last night.

"This election is over by a long shot."
Judging by the context, I think you left out a word here.
Palin brings red meat to the Republican base.
To independents, Palin is an albatros dragging down the McCain campaign to defeat.
Really, Continuum? That's not what the polls consistently say.
Methinks you're trying to deceive a little to get her off the ticket. What are you afraid of?
Continuum, you forgot to mention that you are a life long Republican! Tool!!!
I personally think McCain has alot to do, but, I for one "Have to Vote for McCain/Palin. The other choice: the United Socialitist States of America – USSA
