Man, the squirming is almost painful to watch in this video. ABC’s Mark Halperin spends almost five minutes trying to get the answer to just one question from Barack Obama’s Spokesman, Robert Gibbs: Does Barack Obama think it was okay to continue to work with Bill Ayers even after he found out that Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist?

Gibbs adamantly refused to answer the question and, as much as I dig into the MSM for going easy on the Obamessiah, Halperin is blogger-level dogged about coming back to the questio no matter hos Gibbs tries to evade it. In the end, Gibbs refuses to answer the question and blows off Halperin rather rudely.

The news in this video, as I see it, isn’t that Gibbs admits that Obama still worked with Ayers even after he knew of Ayers reprehensible past but that he could not tell Halperin that if Obama were in the same situation today, he’d not work with the man. Note that I didn’t say “would not” but “could not”. Gibbs very clearly doesn’t know the answer to that question himself and that, I think, says as much about Obama as anything anyone has said about his association with Ayers to date.

There’s your hope and change, folks. Gibbs hopes that Halperin will stop asking a question which answer is absolute poison for his boss and then tries to change the subject when he doesn’t relent.
