Barack Obama Runs A Great Campaign Ad…for John McCain
Via Mark Hemingway, I see that the Obamessiah has opted for the new and unusual tactic of portraying his opponent as a decisive winner in a new ad called “Bad News”.
The ad is a glimpse into the future, where John McCain has won the Presidency, which is, I assume, supposed to be bad news for Obama supporters. Things seems just fine, though. I didn’t see a single tank rolling through the streets of Berkeley, California and no hippies were rounded up into conveyor belts bound for the Soylent Green Processing Plants. In fact, the ad shows McCain winning with 51 percent of the vote, a total the Democrats haven’t reached since Lyndon Johnson in 1964. John McCain is smiling and happy and the crowd, judging by the applause, is joyous.
Which is horrible news. For some reason. Which Obama never quite explains.
How smart is it for Barack Obama to run an ad that shows the opposition candidate smiling and happy after winning a resounding victory? Oh sure, it speaks directly to his most progressive base, who will no doubt rend their brownish-colored shirts in anguish. But who else is that supposed to convince? I’m betting that most folks will read “It doesn’t have to be this way” and ask “Why the heck not?”.
I think that John McCain would love to see that ad in broad circulation everywhere right about now.
The ad comes after the jump.
