Rudy on Freaking Fire!
Wow is Rudy Giuliani on fire tonight. He has a great speech and at least a half-dozen times he’s gone off-script to acknowledge the crowd’s applause. He’s smiling and laughing and even led the crowd briefly in a chant of “Drill Baby, Drill!” that went on for a couple minutes. He’s having a blast and is unloading a barrage on Obama and Biden that they’re going to feel in the morning.
He’s landed a solid dozen body shots on the Democrats, including this zinger. After recounting only a few of Barack Obama’s flip-flops, Guiliani said, “If I were Joe Biden, I’d get that VP thing in writing.” Ouch.
I am going to have to post the video of this speech as soon as I see it tomorrow. It is a must-see and may just end up as the best speech of the entire convention.
I swear to God I actually heard him whoop like he was at a revival meeting.
This speech and Fred Thompson’s last night make me wonder where in the hell these guys were during the campaign. I said it about Thompson and I’ll say it about Giuliani. If he had given a couple more speeches like this, John McCain would be an also-ran. Then again, perhaps Rudy and Fred couldn’t summon the sort of political ire against fellow Republicans they can against the Obamessiah.
