Did Sarah Palin Just Make Conservatism Incredibly Cool Again?

| September 3, 2008 | Comments (4)

Sarah Palin’s speech was a dead-bang winner tonight. She introduced herself with grace and more than a glint of steel. She bragged on her family, took on the scurrilous rumor-mongering media, and walked us through the path that has led her to the podium tonight.

She batted Barack Obama around like a cat toy for a little while and the crowd loved it. If there was any doubt about whether she can be an effective attack dog on the campaign trail, those doubts are gone tonight. She spent a whole lot more time, though, telling us exactly why John McCain should be our President. It was an effective endorsement, with more than a couple details. I’m looking forward to her speaking more about the oil industry and domestic drilling specifically. I have the distinct impression after tonight that there is a lot more she will say and it won’t be what the anti-drilling folks want to hear.

I like her even more after tonight. There’s no doubt in my mind that she knows what it’s like to hold conservative values closely and to make them work in her life every day. I think she just made conservatism cool again.

I’ve not been a fan of Johnny Mac, but the guy is, tonight, a genius.

Whoa! Even Wolf Blitzer said she hit it out of the park tonight. The Democrats are in serious, serious trouble now. If John McCain doesn’t get a humongous poll bump after the convention, it’ll be because he did something completely stupid like dropping his pants tomorrow night and urinating on a picture of Ronald Reagan.

Well, that or start talking about amnesty.

And what in the world is John McCain doing on stage? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Presidential nominee take the stage after his running mate’s speech to give her an immediate bolstering from the stage. That was a pretty incredible moment and the crowd ate it up. It was also a subtle message that McCain isn’t going to take the attacks on her and her family mildly.

I haven't been a fan of the CNN crew, as a whole, but I have to agree with what Glenn Beck said today in a brief segment on CNN … Wolf Blitzer has been the only honest broker on the whole CNN cast and he has my respect. Good for him for remaining unbiased (unlike the rest of the crew, liberal or conservative).

this is all just a booty show. bring some random leggy woman with loose kids out, show her around, and win the votes of millions of men who keep repuglican thugs in power. palin isn't a vice president, she's a repuglican style centerfold.

She really did smack them around the whole speech. Good stuff. I usually don't watch the speeches; just check the internet for highlights. But this one I had to watch from beginning to end.

You know all those polls about "is America going in the right direction?" and the answer was "no" about 80% of the time??

I'm thinkin' those 80% – or at least a bunch of them – weren't sayin' what the pollsters _thought_ they were sayin'…!

And the Dems may be about to find that out…
