You know how you get a nickname and you really like it, so you prefer to go by the nickname more than you do your real name sometimes?
Yeah, well don’t do this.
The Cincinnati Bengals receiver has legally changed his name to Chad Javon Ocho Cinco in Broward County, Fla., a switch that became official this week. Johnson, who lives in Miami, didn’t return a message left on his cell phone Friday night.
“It’s something I don’t think anyone has ever done before,” he told the team’s Web site. “Have I ever had a reason for why I do what I do? I’m having fun.”
Seriously, just don’t. Not only will everyone laugh at you behind your back like we’re laughing at Chad Johnson Ocho Cinco, but you’ll slip way down the wide receiver cheat sheet in thousands of fantasy football drafts. That and we’ll make up funny names to reflect your new status as bonehead, such as “Ocho Stinko” and “Ouch-o Cinco”.
I am so glad that Dan Snyder resisted the urge to trade for this guy in the off season.
